Hi there, my name is Zhizhuo Yang (杨智卓 in Chinese), aka George. I’m a PhD student and a multidisciplinary researcher majoring in computer science at RIT. My primary research areas are active inference and continual reinforcement learning. My advisor is Dr. Alexander G. Ororbia II at Rochester Insitiute of Technology. Previously, I worked on deep learning based eye tracking systems and generative modeling of coordinated eye and head movements. I’m also interested in computer vision and computer graphics.

I love playing :basketball: and :badminton:, listening to music, traveling and hiking in my free time. I learned to play :saxophone: and :guitar: at a young age.

news

Sep 11, 2023 Today, I started my part-time work as a student researcher at Meta. I’ll continue my work on AI/ML project since summer. 🧐
Apr 25, 2023 Today, I passed my dissertation proposal defense and become a PhD candidate officially! 😃 It may feel trivial for some people, but it’s quite a milestone for me. One of the greatest minds once said “don’t forget to celebrate the small wins”. So I did by doing an intense workout in the gym that’s long overdue! This is the way.😎
Feb 17, 2023 I’ll be joining Meta Reality Labs as a research scientist intern in mid-May this year! I’m going to work on the coolest projects on haptics in AR/VR using machien learning! :grinning: :rocket:
Feb 3, 2023 Our paper A Neural Active Inference Model of Perceptual-Motor Learning has been accepted at Frontiers in Computational Neuroscience! :sparkles:
